Street Fighter Movie's Guile Theme Stays True to the Classic While Adding New Flair
Composers Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson have reimagined Guile's iconic theme for the upcoming Street Fighter film, keeping the essence of Yoko Shimomura's 1991 original while adding a kickass guitar solo and cinematic touches.

The Street Fighter movie is shaping up as a love letter to Capcom's fighting game series, and the filmmakers are getting the sound right. Guile's iconic theme, legendary for its versatility, appears in the movie with a fresh arrangement that respects the source material while standing on its own.
Composers Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson, known for their work on Cobra Kai, handled the score. "As young and budding composers, we listened to Yoko Shimomura's iconic Guile's Theme probably more than Raiders of the Lost Ark," they said in a press statement. "We hope fans will hear the love and reverence we hold for this music within our version of Guile's Theme."
The movie version keeps the original's core melody intact while layering in a new guitar solo and cinematic adjustments. Yoko Shimomura originally composed Guile's Theme for the 1991 arcade release of Street Fighter II, and it has remained one of gaming's most recognizable pieces of music.
The full Street Fighter soundtrack will contain 39 tracks and releases October 16, the same day as the film. WWE performer Cody Rhodes plays Guile in the movie, which leans into the absurdity of its source material. The film arrives a month after Resident Evil, another Capcom video game adaptation that has performed strongly both critically and commercially.
