The Xbox 25th Anniversary Console Is Already Proving Very Popular With Scalpers
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console has launched its pre-order window, quickly drawing massive demand and high-priced resale listings online.
The highly-anticipated Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console has officially hit the pre-order market, and it is already proving exceptionally popular with scalpers. Back in June, Microsoft attempted to combat potential scalping efforts by introducing an early access window designed for loyal fans. As part of this strategy, Microsoft emailed select individuals yesterday granting them the ability to secure the console ahead of time, before broader pre-orders opened up to the general public earlier today.
Despite these early preventative measures, the system has experienced severe demand issues, with observers quickly spotting the limited hardware listed for resale at thousands of dollars in the United States and thousands of pounds in the United Kingdom. While the early access concept was implemented to mitigate the worst of the scalping issue, some community members noted that they did not receive an invitation email despite identifying as devoted Xbox fans, as Microsoft never formally revealed the exact criteria used for selection.
Stock for the special anniversary hardware is reportedly running out quickly as wider availability opens up. Microsoft previously outlined pricing, release dates, and pre-order details for the Xbox Series X25 console and controller package as excitement builds across the community during Gamescom 2026.
