New Evidence and Records Raise More Questions About Ultra Pro Wrestling Development

Hyperfocus Games founder Sam Vallely addressed a recent investigative report via YouTube interviews, but internal messages and public records contradict several of his central claims regarding trademark filings and development data.

Following an investigative report published by Insider Gaming regarding Ultra Pro Wrestling, Hyperfocus Games founder Sam Vallely responded across two YouTube videos. Rather than engaging directly with the publication, Vallely went through the report paragraph by paragraph on a channel covering his game. Insider Gaming subsequently reviewed tens of thousands of internal messages spanning three and a half years, alongside budget documents, executed contracts, and federal trademark filings.

While parts of Vallely’s account find support in the record, several central claims are contradicted by his own internal messages. Key questions regarding trademark ownership and animation data remain unanswered or unaddressed following further outreach. Regarding trademark applications, Vallely stated that a filing agent placed his own contact details on the paperwork instead of the company's, allowed the application to lapse, and demanded payment to fix it. Public and private filings support aspects of this account, showing generic filing-agent accounts and a Connecticut house as addresses of record. However, records also show that Hyperfocus Games Limited, incorporated in Scotland in 2023, never held the AKI trademarks and had no earlier registration to renew. The application was ultimately refused, and the filings remain suspended pending administrative review.

Vallely also addressed team structures, confirming that he operated as the sole employee while contributors signed on as contractors paid against invoices. On the topic of animation data, internal messages contrast with statements made during the interview. While Vallely denied that animation data was extracted from other video games, messages from January 2025 indicated that data loaded into Unity utilized toki1 data structures from classic titles to assign hitboxes and frame data. As the project continues to face administrative scrutiny, developers and observers await further clarification on the game's production history.
