Former Dying Light director Tymon Smektala joins Bloober Team's Broken Mirror Games as executive director
Smektala, who spent 13 years at Techland as franchise director, will lead the horror co-development imprint and oversee in-production titles Saw: Genesis and Onyx: The Dark Grip.

Tymon Smektala, previously franchise director at Dying Light studio Techland, has joined Polish studio Bloober Team as executive director of its horror imprint Broken Mirror Games.
Smektala spent more than 13 years at Techland, where he most recently oversaw the studio's franchise portfolio for nearly four years. In his new role, he will lead Broken Mirror Games, shape its creative direction and portfolio, and collaborate with external studios on horror projects.
"After more than 13 years at Techland, I'm taking on a new challenge: leading the imprint, shaping its creative direction and portfolio, and working with talented external studios to bring new perspectives on horror in gaming," Smektala wrote on LinkedIn.
Broken Mirror Games, announced in 2024, operates as a co-development label under Bloober Team. The imprint has already released Star Trek: Infection and I Hate This Place. Smektala will immediately join the teams behind in-production titles Saw: Genesis and Onyx: The Dark Grip to help bring these games to players.
Bloober Team, founded in 2008, has built a reputation in horror gaming with titles including Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, and its Silent Hill 2 remake. Smektala is actively recruiting for new projects. "If you're a developer, studio, or creator working on something interesting in horror, give me a shout," he stated. "I'd love to hear what you're cooking up."
