Carolin Krenzer has transitioned from CEO to executive chair at Trailmix, the mobile game studio behind the popular merge game Love & Pies. James Nicholas, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer, has been promoted to CEO.

Krenzer founded Trailmix in late 2017 and led the company for nearly nine years. In a LinkedIn post, she described building and running Trailmix as "the biggest part of my life for the last decade." She will remain involved as a director of the Trailmix group and executive chair, stating she is "deeply committed to the success of the company" despite no longer being in the day-to-day leadership role.

Nicholas has already been managing day-to-day operations for eight months in his COO capacity. Krenzer and Nicholas have a 13-year history, having previously worked together at King before Nicholas joined Trailmix in 2023. Krenzer noted that when she hired him, she did so "knowing he'd be a great person to succeed me one day." The pair developed a strategy together that is currently being executed at Trailmix to prepare the company for its next phase.

Krenzer highlighted Trailmix's flagship title Love & Pies, which combines merge mechanics with café restoration and mystery elements, and praised its "extraordinarily loyal" audience. She reflected on accomplishing her goal of proving that casual games can carry real stories. Krenzer also thanked employees and acknowledged Supercell as a good partner to the studio.
