Studio Atelico Launches iOS Closed Beta for AI-Based Creature Battler Bobium Brawlers

Studio Atelico has launched a closed beta test for its debut creature battler, Bobium Brawlers. The mobile card and dice game is currently rolling out on iOS in the Philippines, with select North American and European countries scheduled to follow in the coming weeks ahead of a full launch later this year.

Bobium Brawlers is a turn-based strategy game where players describe custom creatures using text prompts of up to 140 characters. The game uses Studio Atelico's proprietary on-device AI engine to transform these prompts into bespoke creature artwork paired with unique card decks and abilities. According to the development team, the technology runs entirely on the player's smartphone to keep processing costs lower than cloud-based data centers.

Piero Molina, CEO of Studio Atelico, stated that the studio was founded by AI and gaming industry veterans with the goal of creating new experiences that would not have been possible previously. Molina explained that the studio aims to amplify human creativity rather than replace it. The AI models are trained on artwork provided by the studio's in-house art team, and artist Jose is licensed, compensated, and receives royalties for creatures generated in his style.

The gameplay features 1v1 tactical duels combining card mechanics with dice-rolling action. Players step into the role of a rookie scientist working alongside a robotic lab assistant named BEPPE within a whimsical sci-fi setting. Alongside the closed beta test, Studio Atelico plans to reveal more details regarding its Atelico AI Engine, which functions as a plug-in for major game engines such as Unreal, Unity, and Godot to handle specialized on-device artificial intelligence tasks.
