Sandbox Interactive Partners With Tencent Cloud and Tencent ACE to Enhance Android Security for Albion Online

Sandbox Interactive has announced a formal partnership with Tencent Cloud and Tencent ACE to bolster Android security for its flagship sandbox MMORPG, Albion Online. The collaboration was officially formalized during a three-party signing ceremony at Gamescom 2026. Under the terms of the agreement, the game will integrate the ACE Anti-Cheat Standard solution for Android, aiming to establish a more secure and equitable environment for mobile players.

The upcoming integration is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2026. According to developers, the decision to adopt ACE followed more than a year of rigorous technical evaluations, extensive testing, and architectural alignment that began after technical experts from Sandbox Interactive attended a security session led by ACE specialists at Gamescom 2025. Jon Davis, Technical Director at Sandbox Interactive, highlighted the importance of competitive play to the title and noted that the implementation aims to improve server-side anti-cheat protection alongside cross-validation between clients and servers.

The security framework moves beyond traditional client-only options by deploying a comprehensive defense system spanning client-side telemetry, server-side validation, and advanced code hardening. This multi-layered architecture creates a closed anti-cheat loop supported by ACE's ban-management API and real-time match admission data. These tools enable granular player assessments and offer broader resistance against tampering to protect the player-driven economy.

For Tencent, the partnership serves as a notable milestone in the heavily regulated European market. Xander, Product Manager of Anti-Cheat Expert, emphasized that anti-cheat measures have evolved into an industry-wide priority vital for preserving player trust across global platforms. Meanwhile, Fred Sun, General Manager of Tencent Cloud Europe, stated that the company remains dedicated to assisting game developers globally by combining robust security capabilities with regional compliance expertise.
