Playtika is reportedly negotiating the sale of SuperPlay to potential buyer Tencent, according to a report by Calcalist Tech. The studio is known for developing titles such as Disney Solitaire, Dice Dreams, and Domino Dreams. Playtika decided to sell the studio due to an unusual reason, as the rapid success of SuperPlay games has become a financial burden for the parent company.

The issue stems from the acquisition terms agreed upon when Playtika originally acquired SuperPlay in 2024. The initial deal required Playtika to pay $700 million upfront, with an additional $1.25 billion in bonuses contingent on performance benchmarks over a three-year period. SuperPlay is currently significantly ahead of schedule, while Playtika has experienced deteriorating financial conditions and accumulated debts. Playtika is reportedly asking Tencent between $1 billion and $1.5 billion for the studio.

It remains unclear how far the negotiations between Playtika and Tencent have progressed. Neither Playtika, Tencent, nor SuperPlay commented on the publication's information. In April, Playtika announced plans to audit its entire portfolio and explore strategic alternatives for business development, which initially sparked rumors that management might put Playtika itself up for sale. The company ultimately decided to limit the divestment effort to SuperPlay.
