Blizzard Entertainment's top-down, made-for-mobile shooter, Overwatch Rush, has entered its soft launch phase in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia. According to social media and LinkedIn posts from development and marketing team members, the beta test officially began on August 31.
Danika Wilkinson, Blizzard's director of user acquisition, shared excitement regarding the milestone on LinkedIn, stating that years of hard work have gone into the title and that there is still more to come. Blizzard initially announced the game in February. Developed by a dedicated mobile team within the company, Overwatch Rush is set within the wider Overwatch universe. Following the regional rollout, players in the soft launch territories have already started uploading gameplay footage to YouTube.
The title joins Blizzard's expanding mobile portfolio. AppMagic estimates indicate that Hearthstone's mobile port generates between $3 million and $5 million per month, nearing the $1 billion lifetime mark, while Diablo Immortal—developed in collaboration with NetEase—pulls in roughly $3 million to $4 million monthly with over $420 million in lifetime earnings. Meanwhile, Warcraft Rumble remains live on app stores on autopilot following a reported staff reduction of 100 people and confirmation that the game would not receive new content moving forward.
