Nordic Studios Detail How Artificial Intelligence is Shifting Development, Legal Risks, and Support
Industry leaders across the Nordic region share insights on how artificial intelligence is shaping game development, shifting legal risk toward community relations, and transforming player support.

Industry professionals across the Nordic games sector have detailed how artificial intelligence is shifting daily development operations. Speaking to PocketGamer.biz in the second part of a regional industry series, studio leaders, legal experts, and tooling providers discussed how AI is being integrated into workflows, ranging from automated coding pipelines to instant player support systems.
Joeli Niva, legal counsel at Rovio speaking in a personal capacity, noted that while legal uncertainties regarding AI training data and output ownership remain consistent, the nature of the conversation has changed. According to Niva, companies are now more focused on community management and potential player backlash regarding AI usage rather than immediate legal claims.
Studio operations are also seeing widespread changes in automatable tasks. Daniel Rantala, chief growth officer at Fingersoft, explained that the studio utilizes AI across programming, data analysis, error-proofing, and reporting. Rantala emphasized that while AI helps accelerate tasks such as sketching and bug identification, core human creative elements like art direction and design feel remain vital.
Production pipelines are shifting similarly at Playables.ai. Elina Arponen, CEO and co-founder, stated that artificial intelligence handles the majority of code writing while human staff review and provide feedback. Additionally, Arponen pointed out that AI is utilized to double-check text, marketing materials, and legal presentations for inconsistencies.
Player support has also experienced a direct operational shift. Tommi Koirikivi, co-founder and CEO of AI-powered support platform Theymes, stated that routine player queries regarding gameplay guidance or account issues are frequently resolved instantly by artificial intelligence before a ticket reaches an agent queue. Koirikivi added that the technology allows support teams to analyze thousands of conversations quickly to yield business insights.
At Bitmagic, CTO and co-founder Markus Hjort described a shift where internal showcase games are no longer constructed by traditional teams. Instead, individual staff members can independently build a complete game from start to finish using the company platform.
