Nex, maker of the controller-free Nex Playground console, has raised over $150 million in equity and debt financing to fuel its global expansion. The funding round, led by Baillie Gifford and BAI Capital, includes participation from NBA Investments, Logitech, Medici Capital Partners, and the Raine Group, alongside a new credit facility with JPMorgan.

Nex Playground has sold over 1 million units worldwide since launch. The device made headlines last year after outselling Xbox Series X|S in the United States during the 2025 holiday season. The active play system is designed for families and younger players and operates without controllers.

The company has established a presence across North America and parts of Europe, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and Germany. The latest funding will support a more comprehensive rollout, with Europe and Asia identified as key target regions.

Nex Playground subscribers access a library of over 60 titles through quarterly or annual subscriptions. The roster includes games based on licenses such as Bluey, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Pac-Man. The company is approaching 1 million subscribers and expects to surpass that milestone by the end of the calendar year.

David Lee, co-founder and CEO of Nex, said: "Families have timeless needs: to move, grow, connect, and have fun. The response to Nex Playground has shown us that active play can serve those needs at a meaningful scale. This investment gives us the resources to bring active play to millions more families around the world."

Nex has also appointed Jeff Shouger, a former executive at Niantic, Zynga, and EA, as chief financial officer. Shouger commented: "Nex has reached an exciting point in its evolution, with strong consumer adoption, a growing content ecosystem of guilt-free content that is fun, active and good for families, and significant opportunity still ahead."
