LEGO Digital Play Acquires Offroad Games, Chrome Valley Customs Developer

LEGO Digital Play has acquired Offroad Games, a UK-based mobile game studio founded by former Space Ape Games employees. The announcement was made via LinkedIn, with Offroad Games describing the move as opening an "incredibly exciting new chapter" for the studio.

Offroad Games, which developed Chrome Valley Customs, was founded approximately 19 months before the acquisition. The studio will continue operating under the Offroad Games label, according to reports. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition represents the first major public move from LEGO Digital Play since the toy giant established the mobile gaming-focused subsidiary in early 2025. LEGO Digital Play is led by president Aaron Loeb, a 30-year games industry veteran whose previous roles include leadership positions at Scopely, FoxNext Games, and EA. Space Ape cofounder John Earner serves as an adviser at LEGO Digital Play.

Offroad Games spun out of Space Ape Games as part of the broader restructuring that occurred when Supercell acquired the majority of the London studio in 2025. That same restructuring saw NextBeat spin out to operate BeatStar, which was subsequently acquired by Duolingo.

In a statement, Offroad Games thanked its team and supporters, stating: "We started this company 19 months ago, and since then we've worked tirelessly to build a game studio with the right culture, skills and energy to develop a new generation of mobile games." The studio's entire staff have transitioned to LEGO Digital Play as of the acquisition announcement.
