Kakao Games to Acquire 39.56% Stake in Me2on for $71.5 Million
Kakao Games has announced plans to purchase a 39.56% stake in South Korean game company Me2on for $71.5 million to expand its global reach.

Kakao Games has revealed plans to acquire a 39.56 percent stake in South Korean game company Me2on for approximately 98 billion won, or about $71.5 million. The board approved the deal on September 15th, and the transaction is scheduled to close on November 16th, 2026. This acquisition is the first major mergers and acquisitions move under the new management structure at Kakao Games following a largest shareholder transition.
Founded in 2010, Me2on focuses on social casino, casual, and mind sports games. The company generated roughly 120.9 billion won in revenue last year, with more than 80 percent of that total coming from overseas markets. By comparison, overseas revenue for Kakao Games sits at approximately 20 percent. Once the transaction closes, Kakao Games will gain management control and become Me2on's largest shareholder.
Kakao Games plans to use Me2on's global publishing network to support its upcoming titles and add new game genres to its portfolio. Leadership also highlighted opportunities through Me2on subsidiaries, such as Ghost Studio and its AI character chat platform BoriChat, alongside overseas publishing affiliate Ace Interactive Holdings. Kakao Games CEO Lee Si-woo stated that the company will continue pursuing mergers and acquisitions for future growth under the new management structure.
Me2on CEO Son Chang-wook noted that the partnership combines the service capabilities and experience of both organizations. The deal follows a recent investment from LY Corporation and comes alongside the planned shutdown of Eversoul after three years of service.
