Invest Qatar Details Strategy for Building Regional Gaming Hub by 2030
Invest Qatar outlines its national gaming strategy to attract international developers, support local studios, and establish the country as a gateway to the Middle East market by 2030.

Invest Qatar has outlined its strategy to develop a globally connected games ecosystem spanning development, publishing, and digital content. The country aims to position itself as a gateway for companies looking to access the wider Middle East market. Game development is increasingly becoming an important component of the nation's plans to diversify its digital economy.
Speaking on the national gaming approach, Invest Qatar investment development manager Mohammed Al Mulla noted that the strategy focuses on building a dynamic ecosystem supported by international partnerships and long-term commitments. The Startup Qatar Investment Program has already received more than 6,000 applications globally. The initiative connects startups with funding and support programs, while other collaborations involve Tencent’s Level Infinite and Media City Qatar.
For international companies, Qatar offers a business-friendly environment alongside digital infrastructure and access to a digitally engaged regional market. Criteria for supporting global companies include bringing genuine value to the ecosystem, contributing to economic diversification, and strengthening local capabilities. Meanwhile, homegrown studios receive support through Media City Qatar for licensing and infrastructure, alongside opportunities to showcase their work at events like Gamescom.
Qatar views the growth of gaming across Saudi Arabia and the UAE as positive for the region. The country differentiates itself through an integrated ecosystem, strong government support, and a focus on talent development. By 2030, success for Qatar will involve maintaining a sustainable ecosystem that enables local talent to compete globally while attracting international studios.
