Frontier Developments Reports Record FY26 Financials with 62% Rise in Adjusted Operating Profit

UK-based studio Frontier Developments has reported record-breaking financial results for the fiscal year 2026 (FY26). The developer, widely known for its creative management simulation (CMS) titles such as the Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster franchises, announced that its adjusted operating profit surged by 62% to reach an all-time high of £21.4 million.

According to Frontier, the significant growth was driven by "strong trading, disciplined cost control, and higher tax and expenditure credits." If not for a one-time £3.9 million gain recorded in the previous financial year from selling publishing rights, the studio noted that its adjusted operating profit would have more than doubled year-on-year. Total revenue rose by 16% to £104.8 million, bolstered by Jurassic World Evolution 3 and ongoing success across the Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo series. Meanwhile, IFRS operating profit rose 97% to £25.0 million, reflecting strong trading alongside a one-off transitional tax credit of £4.4 million. The company's cash reserves also increased by £19 million.

Frontier is also undergoing notable leadership transitions. Jo Cooke, who initially joined the company as chief marketing officer (CMO) in August 2025 (two months after the establishment of an executive board in June 2025), was promoted to CEO following Jonny Watts stepping down. Last month, Dan Lazarides was appointed as the new CMO. Additionally, company founder and president David Braben will transition to a non-executive director role on October 1, 2026. Braben expressed confidence in Cooke's leadership, stating the shift allows him to focus on supporting Frontier's journey, including overseeing its game portfolio.

Looking ahead, Frontier has outlined a robust product roadmap. The studio intends to release an average of one CMS game per year, with a new title based on its own internal IP currently "in full development and on track." Upcoming major releases include Planet Zoo 2, scheduled for launch on October 13, 2026, and Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, set to debut before the end of FY27. Furthermore, Frontier recently signed an agreement with Disney to develop and publish an upcoming game based on Disney's intellectual properties.
