Free Fire OB55 Update Release Date Set for September 2026 With New Weapons, Water Horse, and Naruto Collaboration

Garena is preparing to launch one of the biggest updates of the year for Free Fire and Free Fire MAX. The upcoming Free Fire OB55 Update release date is scheduled for September 16, 2026. It will serve as the successor to the OB54 update, which previously arrived on June 24 as the game's 9th Anniversary update. Players will be able to download the new version directly through Google Play and the Apple App Store once the official rollout begins.

Because Garena has not yet published the complete OB55 patch notes on its global news page, many of the known features are currently sourced from Advance Server testing and early gameplay. Among the most notable additions are new weapons spanning multiple categories, including SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, LMGs, and pistols. Confirmed weapon names from testing include the Skorp short-range SMG with armor penetration, the RPK light machine gun with spread that decreases during continuous firing, along with the FO12, M200, M7, Harpia, and TEC-9.

Transportation and map interactions are also set for expansion. Early gameplay has revealed a new Water Horse variant featuring a ghost-like water design, alongside general speed boosts and gameplay adjustments for horses to make them more viable for map rotations. Other major gameplay additions include Battle Royale: Havoc—a mode introducing Skill Cards that alter weapons, movement, defense, attributes, and abilities—and a separate Reign of Chaos experience featuring a King mechanic that influences matches through buffs, lightning, transformations, voting, and hunts.

Testing has further highlighted an expected rework for Kenta, showcasing whirlwind and teleport-style mechanics, alongside experimental tactical additions like a Spider Drone, sonar grenades, and lava-style grenades. In addition to seasonal Halloween content featuring spooky visual changes and themed items, players can expect the return of the Naruto collaboration during the OB55 cycle. This collaboration is expected to feature Naruto Chapter 1 content, the Hidden Leaf Village, jutsu-themed gameplay, a free Sakura Bundle reward, and Mystery Shop offerings featuring Kakashi and Sakura bundles alongside a re-spin discount system.
