Fallout 76 Launches Its First Xbox Series Public Test Server

Bethesda has officially launched the very first Public Test Server (PTS) for Fallout 76 on Xbox consoles. Announced via Xbox Wire, Xbox Insiders who own the game or maintain access through an active Game Pass subscription can now download and experience upcoming updates before they roll out to the live game.

This new Public Test Server brings native Xbox Series platform optimization, allowing developers to utilize current console hardware more efficiently. Key technical enhancements featured in the test environment include targeted 60 FPS gameplay on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, 4K resolution support on compatible displays for Xbox Series X users, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support on compatible displays for both systems.

Players looking to jump into the test environment will find that developers take a character snapshot from the live game, granting access to existing characters, weapons, armor, items, and C.A.M.P.s. However, the Atomic Shop and seasonal content remain inactive during the testing phase. Furthermore, any progression made on the PTS will not transfer over to the live game, and character progression does not persist between test cycles since a fresh snapshot is captured before each new testing period begins.

Because the test content is not final, participants may encounter bugs and unpolished elements. Additionally, most new content featured in the current build has not yet been translated, limiting the PTS experience to English only. To participate, Xbox Series X|S owners can open the Xbox Insider Hub app, navigate to Previews, select Fallout 76 (Public Test Server), and complete the registration to install the client from the Store. Bethesda has designated the official Bethesda Studios Discord server as the primary hub for player feedback and bug reports.
