Commodore and CD Projekt Red Announce Cyberpunk 2077-Themed C64, Launching in 2027
The 'Commodore 77' pairs a redesigned C64 Ultimate with an exclusive 8-bit demo by Polish demo group Arise, plus a chiptune soundtrack by LukHash.
Commodore International and CD Projekt Red have revealed a special-edition home computer called the Commodore 77, a Cyberpunk 2077-branded version of the C64 Ultimate. According to the announcement, covered by Time Extension, the machine is slated to begin shipping next year, with pre-orders opening at a starting price of $377.
The Commodore 77 is built around Commodore's modern C64 Ultimate platform, which the company upgraded with an AMD Artix 7 XC7A100T processor capable of reaching 77MHz. The Cyberpunk-themed case adds metal extras, LEDs, and graffiti tags, and the package ships with a themed spiral-bound user guide containing Cyberpunk 2077-inspired type-in BASIC programs and lore.
Headlining the bundle is an exclusive non-interactive 8-bit demo developed by the Polish C64 demo group Arise, presented on a custom 'Arasaka' cartridge whose design is said to be inspired by the shards from Cyberpunk 2077. The demo features a 24-channel stereo SID soundtrack composed by chiptune artist LukHash, and is described by Commodore as expanding the lore of the Cyberpunk universe. The demo is described as exclusive to the Commodore 77.
Also included are exclusive Commodore x Cyberpunk 2077 enamel pins and stickers, an extra-long HDMI cable, and a world power adapter described as 'compatible with Night City.'
Commodore head Christian Simpson framed the collaboration in terms of the franchise's themes, saying that 'in a world dominated by corporate surveillance, algorithmic feeds, and private security, the safest tech is sometimes the oldest,' and emphasizing that C64 owners 'have never needed a corporation's permission to build something new on our hardware.' Simpson added that discussions with CD Projekt Red Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski revealed a shared lifelong appreciation for the original Commodore 64.
Patrick Mills, Franchise Content Strategy Lead at CD Projekt Red, said the partnership was an opportunity to bring a piece of Night City to the long-established C64 demo scene, calling the collaboration a 'demonstration of technical skill and the power of the Commodore.'
The announcement did not list a precise release date within 2027, regional pricing beyond the $377 starting point, or unit availability. Time Extension's report is the sole source consulted for this update.
