Atari and Vice Beer Launch Retro-Themed Four-Pack Collection

Atari and Vice Beer have announced a licensing collaboration featuring a four-pack of Atari-themed 16 oz. beers, debuted during PAX West in Seattle. The collection includes One-Button Joystick WC IPA, Gemstone Sour, Sunken Treasure and Original Bug Battle Hazy IPA.

One-Button Joystick is a West Coast IPA at 6.9% ABV, named after the iconic Atari 2600 controller. Brewed with a Pilsner malt base and hopped with Columbus Cryo, Strata, Idaho 7, Citra, Mosaic Cryo, and Quantum Mosaic, it features flavors of bright mango and grapefruit with hints of tropical fruit, mixed berry, orange peel, and piney resin.

Original Bug Battle is a New England IPA at 6.4% ABV designed with Centipede in mind. The soft base combines Pilsner malt, flaked oat, and torrified wheat, then hopped with Nelson, Motueka, Strata, Citra Cryo, Mosaic Cryo, and Quantum Galaxy. Tasting notes include mandarin, peach, pineapple, strawberry, zesty lime, and white grape with peppery bitterness on the finish.

Gemstone Sour is a fruited sour at 5% ABV inspired by Crystal Castles. Brewed with actual raspberries and lemons paired with a tart sour ale base, it delivers jammy bramble fruit and succulent citrus flavors reminiscent of tangy berry lemonade.

Sunken Treasure is an Imperial Stout at 8% ABV developed in partnership with Nightdive Studios, an Atari-family game studio focused on retro video game preservation. The stout features toasted marshmallows, graham crackers, cacao nibs, espresso tones, and hints of caramel from a bold malty base.

"I remember the thrill of walking into an arcade with a pocket full of quarters, and that is how I feel sharing these hand-crafted, Atari-themed beers with fans," said Michael Perozzo, co-founder of Vice Beer. "There is something for everyone in this collection, and the artwork is satisfyingly retro."

Stephen Kick, studio head at Nightdive, added: "Collaborating with Vice Beer and Atari on Sunken Treasure was a fun way to bring a little piece of that history into the real world. Games are meant to be shared, remembered and enjoyed, and in this case, so is the beer."
