Ad measurement platform AppsFlyer has expanded its attribution tools to track how users discover and convert through AI platforms, adding support for both paid ChatGPT Ads campaigns and organic referrals from AI answer engines.

The update includes a new integration with ChatGPT Ads, which attributes campaigns through OpenAI's Conversions API. The integration covers both web and mobile app conversions, uses server-side infrastructure, and provides what AppsFlyer calls an independent, deduplicated view of campaign performance. Advertisers can activate the connection without engineering work.

AppsFlyer has also extended its search attribution to Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), covering organic referrals from eight AI engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Manus, Copilot, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek, alongside 13 traditional search engines. The system attributes both re-engagements from users who already have an app installed and installs from new users, using AppsFlyer's OneLink and Smart Script tools.

The expanded organic AEO attribution is included in existing AppsFlyer packages without additional fees or conversion limits. Reporting separates SEO and AEO performance, while platforms such as ChatGPT can show paid and organic traffic separately. AppsFlyer states that ChatGPT now has more than 1 billion weekly active users sending over 2.5 billion prompts daily.
