Digital Alpha Invests Up to $215M in Blacknut Cloud Gaming to Drive Global Expansion

Global digital infrastructure investment firm Digital Alpha has secured a shareholder stake in cloud gaming provider Blacknut, committing up to $215 million in funding. The major financial backing is aimed at accelerating the global expansion of Blacknut's platform, powering infrastructure enhancements, catalog growth, and a deeper market reach worldwide.

Blacknut currently serves more than three million subscribers across over 65 countries through partnerships with telecom operators, ISPs, and manufacturers. The platform provides access to a catalog of more than 1,000 games without requiring dedicated hardware. With the new capital funding, Blacknut plans to scale its infrastructure and expand its content lineup alongside its footprint across consumer devices and platforms.

Beyond the direct investment, the partnership enables integration with Digital Alpha’s digital infrastructure portfolio, including Massed Compute, PacketFabric, Cloudian, and Qwilt. Because high-performance cloud gaming relies heavily on low-latency networks and high-density GPU capacity, this ecosystem integration provides Blacknut with a technical advantage for scaling its infrastructure globally.

Olivier Avaro, CEO and Founder of Blacknut, noted that the move marks an important new chapter and reflects confidence in the company's vision and execution as cloud gaming becomes a critical distribution channel for the video gaming industry. Rick Shrotri, Founder and Managing Partner of Digital Alpha, also highlighted the long-term utility of streaming infrastructure, noting that cloud gaming is emerging as a durable source of demand for GPU capacity and edge networks.
